The Walkabout Alumni Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to advocate and expand experiential education programs. We believe these programs empower individuals to dramatically improve themselves and the world around them. Challenge-oriented experiential learning provides students with a sense of community, confidence, life skills and core values at a critical and transformative time of life. The Walkabout Alumni Foundation supports this work through a network of volunteers and a passion to pass on what was given to them.
The BOCES Walkabout Program is slated to be terminated on June 15, 2013. We need to raise $300,000 in order to stop this from happening. We also need to raise awareness, getting the word out to as many people as possible. We’ve got a large group together already, but we need everyone – alumni, parents and any other supporters. Sign up now to join our effort and tell anyone else who can help to sign up at Walkabout.org

The 1400 Walkabout Alumni (along with their parents, friends, community foundations, and other Walkabout supporters) have never gotten together behind one cause before. Right now, that one cause is to get the doors open for Walkabout 37 in September. THEN, the Walkabout Alumni Foundation will go on to do greater things. Join us.
